Christmas….Again!

Well, just like last year, I get Christmas twice here. Yesterday was the day that the Orthodox celebrate Christmas and ironically I also received a long awaited gift package in the mail yesterday…and no, I am not Orthodox. A group of my mother’s friends sent me a box on NOVEMBER 15TH – it finally showed up January 7th! Actually, we’re not sure how it even made it here at all. When my supervisors picked it up at the post office, there was absolutely no address on it! The little plastic sleeve that contains the address was empty. Somewhere between America and Africa it mysteriously disappeared. The guy at the post office told my supervisors it was mine, but there was nothing actually indicating that it was addressed to me. My supervisors saw that it was post marked Moultrie, GA and took that as a good sign. We are all still trying to figure out how it actually made it into my hands….perphaps a small miracle.

Despite being address-less, the package did finally arrive and with nothing missing either! It was so full of goodies I almost pulled a back muscle lifting it! I won’t list all of its contents, but some of my favorites included all the ingredients to make Mrs. Londa’s famous pimento cheese, a bag of M&Ms large enough to share with the whole countryside, a Woodwick candle (my first), and sweetest of all, some bolls of cotton fresh from a South Georgia field!

So grateful for these ladies who went to sooo much trouble to get a package here for Christmas! Technically, it did arrive in time for Christmas…..I guess it just depends on which Christmas we are talking about huh? #gallery-675-1 { margin: auto; } #gallery-675-1 .gallery-item { float: left; margin-top: 10px; text-align: center; width: 100%; } #gallery-675-1 img { border: 2px solid #cfcfcf; } #gallery-675-1 .gallery-caption { margin-left: 0; } /* see gallery_shortcode() in wp-includes/media.php */
