City vs. Country
This past week was busy but good! Thursday and Friday, the vet and two vet students came and we did a horse clinic where we gave free vaccinations to horses and donkeys in the area. The equine species really isn’t my thing, but it was still fun and a good learning experience. We saw a couple of ruptured abscesses and cut off a couple of tumor-like things. By “we,” I really mean the vet students. Mostly, we (myself included) just attempted to give shots to not so trained horses, mules, and donkeys with no restraints other than a couple of really small local guys hanging on to the other end of the rope! #gallery-362-2 { margin: auto; } #gallery-362-2 .gallery-item { float: left; margin-top: 10px; text-align: center; width: 50%; } #gallery-362-2 img { border: 2px solid #cfcfcf; } #gallery-362-2 .gallery-caption { margin-left: 0; } /* see gallery_shortcode() in wp-includes/media.php */
On Friday afternoon, we headed into the big city and spent the weekend there. As part of the continued birthday celebrations, Sarah and I had decided to eat dinner at the Sheraton. The Sheraton is “the” hotel to go to for a special occasion and everyone here raves about how nice it is. I had been wanting to go, but waiting for a good excuse and figured my birthday might suffice as one. A group of girls from the city came and we ate at the Italian restaurant there. Our grand total for the fancy night out came to $16.00 each, which is a ridiculous amount for a meal here, but all in all I didn’t think it was so bad. None of us left hungry, that’s for sure! It was just nice to be American for one night and for that not to be weird. I even got to wear a knee length dress…with leggings of course! After the Sheraton, we came back to the house for chocolate cake, round 2. My old roomate Elizabeth made one for me and despite a little wear and tear on the back side of it, the cake was delicious.
A busy but great week with some relaxing time with friends in the city!
