Father’s Day

In honor of Father’s Day, I thought it would be appropriate to honor my father. I guess I have just given up on attempting to find and mail cards for these occassions! I would rather broadcast all of mine and my family’s business to the whole world 🙂

Those of you who know my father, probably know without a doubt that he is one the hardest working people you will ever meet! Being over here, I realize it even more. The work ethic here is different and I am made all the more aware of how hard of a worker my father was and is. I seriously don’t think I have ever met anyone as tough or as strong as he is. When it comes to ability to work and put mind over matter – ignoring the need for sleep or food – he puts anyone I have ever met to shame. And when it comes to pushing through no matter the difficulty or pain, no one comes close either. I have seen him encounter injuries working outside that would send most people to the house for the rest of the day, but he never even misses a beat and you can forget him getting medical care afterwards. I don’t know how he got so tough, but I hope a little of it passed on to me and that as I continue to age that I would develop more and more of his toughness and ability to go on no matter the cost.

One of his other finest qualities is his ability to see the good in those that no one else even considers worthy of noticing. As a teacher, this is one of his best traits. He is constantly seeking out the kids who have no one else to root for them and he becomes their biggest supporter, encouraging them to grow up and live lives of integrity. He has an unbelievable ability to make every kid in his classroom feel important and worth noticing, no matter where they came from. That is truly a gift that few people have. He has always remembered those that are easily forgotten and the ones no one else acknowledges and treated them just the same if not better than everyone else.

Happy Father’s Day Dad! I love you!
