Happy Mother’s Day to my mom! I realized about a week ago that this Sunday is Mother’s Day, which was entirely too late for me to find a Mother’s Day Card (if they even have them here) and get it to her by today. So, instead, she gets a shout out on my blog. For someone who hates being the center of attention, I’d say that this is her lucky day : )
For those of you who don’t know my mom, she is the epitome of patience and loving sacrifice. When we were growing up, she was very rarely impatient with us and always did whatever she could to make sure we had the things we needed and wanted. When I hear other people talk about their moms trying to control their lives, education, and careers, I just think of how lucky I am that my mom has always let me be and wanted me to be my own person. Even to the point that she would rarely give me her opinion on decisions I was making because she didn’t want to influence me, but wanted me to make the decision that I thought was best.
She has always been the background person in our family, doing all the prep work and behind the scenes work and then showing up to support us. If you ask for something to be done, she will do it both willingly and sacrificially. She never asks for praise for herself or feels that she deserves any and is often overlooked because of her quiet, meek manner. She has been the solid, patient, untiring force behind our family for the 26, almost 27 years, of my life and I could never be grateful enough for all that she has done for me and for our family.
Happy Mother’s Day Mom! Wish I was there to tell you in person.
